MORE than 200 coronavirus cases were confirmed across Dorset over the last 24 hours, the latest figures show.

Data released by the government show 236 cases were recorded in the county in the 24 hours leading up to 4pm on Saturday (July 10).

In the Dorset Council area, 94 new cases were confirmed. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 13,346 cases.

The BCP Council area recorded 142 new cases, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 28,461.

In the seven days leading up to July 5, the latest rolling seven-day period, 409 cases were recorded in the Dorset Council area, giving a rolling infection rate of 108.1 per 100,000 people.

The BCP Council area had a rolling infection rate of 224.6 per 100,000 with 888 cases recorded in a week.

Elsewhere, 52 new cases were confirmed in the New Forest, taking its total to 6,957.

The rolling rate was 143.3 per 100,000 with 258 cases confirmed in the week before July 5.
