A HELICOPTER was scrambled to rescue a casualty who had a dislocated shoulder at Durdle Door.

Multiple agencies were called out including Kimmeridge Coastguard as well as Purbeck Police Lulworth Rangers , Lulworth responders, and Lulworth Coastguard Rescue Team.

The teams raced to the rescue of the injured person yesterday afternoon during a period when services remain stretched due to the bank holiday weekend.

A spokesman from Kimmeridge Coastguard said: "After another busy day on bank holiday Monday in which the team were tasked to numerous incidents at Durdle Door involving ankle injuries, and a person with a diabetes episode - we were again requested to assist our colleagues at Lulworth Coastguard Rescue Team.

"Purbeck Police Lulworth Rangers and Lulworth responders [and the two coastguard crews] met at Durdle Door yesterday afternoon.

"A person had sustained a dislocated shoulder and we were requested to secure a safe cordon for helimed air ambulance after to land and take off on a very crowded beach.

"With the person on board the casualty was flown to Dorset County Hospital for further treatment.

"All teams stood down and returned to station."
