BOURNEMOUTH seafront and Lower Gardens are deserted today after people flocked outdoors over the weekend amid the coronavirus crisis.

It comes after members of the public were seen visiting Bournemouth, Southbourne and Boscombe beaches on Saturday and Sunday.

Visitors were also spotted at Lulworth Cove where the car park was described as “completely full.”

Angry residents contacted the Daily Echo to express their concerns about after prime minister Boris Johnson urged people to stay at home.

Mr Johnson reiterated that people should keep a distance of two metres between themselves and others when in public.

BCP Council leader Vikki Slade said she was “horrified” to see pictures of people at the beaches and described it as “unacceptable.”

Bournemouth Echo:

Today Bournemouth beach and Lower Gardens are far quieter as people pay attention to warnings to stay indoors to stop the spread of the virus.

Coronavirus has already claimed 281 lives in the UK.
