AS a local resident I am becoming increasingly concerned at the number of beggars I encounter on our Bournemouth streets on a daily basis.

In a town that invests so much into encouraging tourists to visit and enjoy what's on offer I am frustrated that begging continues to go unchecked.

Surely this is counter-productive to all the hard work that so many have put in to elevating Bournemouth to one of the top holiday destinations in the UK?

Whilst I appreciate this is a national social problem I feel we can only begin to tackle this in our local area at least by moving those on who seem determined to hassle and intimidate.
