THE BBC has come in for a great deal of flak over the fact that it may have to scrap free TV licences for those over 75.
As a 78-year-old myself, I have the utmost sympathy for the BBC, after all, how on earth can it be expected to finance 30 percent pay rises for its top executives and the obscene salaries it pays to people like, for example, Gary Lineker (£1.75 million) and Graham Norton (£600,000 plus) if it has to waste money providing free licences for the elderly?
After all, if old people can’t afford a TV licence, all they have to do is give up on a few luxuries like food and heating.
