LAST Wednesday evening I was lucky enough to have tickets to attend the Cliff Richard concert at the BIC which started at 7.45pm.
Fortunately we got into town early and got a parking space in the Winter Gardens car park. However, by 7pm the roads across the Pier Approach, Bath Hill and Bath Road were virtually gridlocked with traffic trying to get near the BIC to find somewhere to park.
If, as planned, we are to lose the Winter Gardens, Pavilion and Bath Road car parks and there is a big concert at the BIC where do our councillors think people are going to park?
Every time I raise this issue I get a reply from a councillor saying that adequate parking will be provided underneath the new buildings to be constructed.
I am not convinced of this and cite the BH2 building as an example. Yes, there is an underground car park but it is not very big and the cost to use it is prohibitive.
Come on Bournemouth council, please re-think the plans for our car parks before you destroy Bournemouth completely.
