I AM a local film student, currently attending my second year at Arts University Bournemouth, and I suffer from severe Tourette's syndrome.
I paid a visit to the local cinema and I saw The Predator. In the film, there is a character who suffers from Tourette's syndrome, like myself. From my analysis, this character is only in the film to serve as a punchline whenever one is needed. It immediately felt very insensitive when the mental disorder was first addressed.
I tried to ignore it, however it became very difficult, once the audience members around me would start laughing whenever the character on screen would start shouting profanities. My night at the Odeon ended with what was quite possibly, the most uncomfortable cinema experience I have ever had.
