FIREFIGHTERS from across the conurbation were called to a blaze at a Bournemouth town centre cinema yesterday.
The fire broke out in the basement boiler room of the ABC Cinema in Westover Road at around 4.30pm and seven fire engines were dispatched to neighbouring Hinton Road so they could gain access.
An aerial platform was also called but was not required.
The cinema was evacuated and Hinton Road was closed for around an hour-and-a-half with police supervision as crews brought the fire under control and made the area safe. There were no injuries.
Two buses were stuck within the cordon and their passengers departed the area safely. People leaving work in cars were allowed to exit the taped-off area as needed.
A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said the cause is unknown.
