DETERMINED Cherries fan Tony Wheat is taking no chances in his quest to get a prized ticket for Charlton - queuing 20 hours ahead of their release.

Tony, 52, is the first AFC Bournemouth supporter to place his camping chair outside the club's ticket office ahead of the tickets going on sale at 9am on Saturday.

Tony, a lifelong fan, queued for five hours when the first allocation of tickets went on sale but they sold out before he got to the front of the queue.

The away fixture is the Cherries' final match of the season and hopes are high that it could end with AFC Bournemouth celebrating promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history.

Tony, of Verwood, said: "I was gutted to miss out last time. I am a season ticket holder and I've been to 11 away games this season so it was tough to miss out.

"I do think it's crazy that in this day and age we can't come up with anything better than this archaic system of sitting outside a football stadium all night. I would rather see a ballot system for all season ticket holders who want a ticket.

"But I wasn't going to be beaten this time so I've brought a chair, a coat and a bit of stupidity and I'll be here now until 9am tomorrow.

"I'm 52 years old and Bournemouth have never, ever been in this position before, I don't want to miss out.

"Regardless of whether we win promotion or not, the team deserves that support because they have done fantastically."
