Apology due over Bournemouth Imax 'jibe'

Many people probably agree with the letter from Geoff Harley (Have Your Say, March 12). He supports the Imax and mocks a Bournemouth council leader who demeans anybody with views other than his.

Regrettably, I found the letter by Cllr Stephen MacLoughlin (March 11) very condescending. The tone was amazing considering it came from a council leader who should be objective and not restricted in vision.

The same day P M Barton accuses the councillor of ignoring the public and wasting money. I would politely suggest that a good leader should respect and consider the sensible views of others, not dismiss free speech and insult the individuals concerned. Brian Jenner supporting the Imax (March 9 ) comes over far better. He deserves an apology from Bournemouth’s council leader and a sincere promise to consider retaining the Imax, with perhaps modified use, and not to needlessly waste council taxpayers’ money.
