WINTON heaped more misery on condemned Bournemouth by easing to a comfortable seven-wicket win over their nine-man opponents at King George V Playing Fields.

Skipper Rob Smith (12) was the only batsman to reach double figures as the Lions were knocked over for just 70, Bournemouth’s score boosted by 16 extras.

Jon Duke (4-14) was Bournemouth’s chief tormentor, while Luke Phillips (2-3) was among the wickets and runs, his undefeated 21, coupled with Jay van Wyk (25) and Ryan Vermaak (19), seeing Winton to 76 for three (Adam Williams 2-34).

  • Dom Hand starred with bat and ball as Cranborne maintained their quest for the runners-up spot with a 70-run victory over Fovant.

Hand (68) and Phil Park (32) underpinned Cranborne’s impressive total of 177 for nine after they had been invited to make first use of a damp track.

And 16-year-old all-rounder Hand (2-20) and Robin Price (2-22) were both instrumental in shooting out Fovant for 107.

With St Georges – who beat Shillingstone by 50 runs – already crowned champions, Cranborne and Swanage will take their battle for second place down to the final day. Swanage host St Georges, while Cranborne entertain Winton.

  • Defending champions Ferndown Wayfarers (222) completed their fixtures with a 27-run triumph over Christchurch (195).
