BOURNEMOUTH will be hoping to swap Chapel Gate for the Caribbean after booking their place in the next round of the ECB Cockspur Twenty20 Cup.

Victory over Sully Centurions and Mochdre in south Wales set up a last-eight showdown on Sunday, September 13 against the winners of the southern area finals.

It left Bournemouth one victory away from the national final, the winners of which will represent England at an international tournament in Barbados.

Bournemouth’s match manager David Ridley said: “It was a great achievement by the team and we’re looking forward to the next round.

“We’re guaranteed a televised game on Sky if we win our next match and we’d also win a new set of covers if we were to win that game.”

The Lions recorded a narrow six-run victory over Sully Centurions to start the ball rolling on Sunday, reaching 144 for nine, before restricting their opponents to 138 for seven.

The second of their round-robin clashes against Mochdre was also a close affair, with Bournemouth edging home by seven runs.

Mark House (71*), Nick Park (43), Simon Watkins (25*) and James Park (22) helped Bournemouth post a formidable 173 for two.

And despite racing to 107 without loss, Mochdre eventually came up short on 166 for six.
