BRANKSOME Celtic experienced mixed fortunes in the build up to this Thursday night’s M A Hart In-Excess Cup Final showdown with Division Two leaders New Milton Town at Hurn Bridge (7.30pm).

Dan Frisby nabbed a hat-trick in their excellent 5-1 midweek triumph over New Star United with Justin Windle and Daniel Wills adding one each then, despite goals from Daniel Wills (2), Daniel Schwartz (2) and Frisby, Celtic went down 6-5 to Seacliff.

Jack McGann bagged a hat-trick for Seacliff with Peter Rosselli (2), and Sam Niizecki also on target.

Celtic’s opponents in the final, New Milton Town were set for a potential championship decider with promotion rivals TX United but, incredibly, United forfeited the game through not being able to field a team.

New Star United bounced back to beat AFC Burton 3-1 with goals from Mark Walker, Mark Dykes, and Terry Colebourne while Christchurch Royals moved up to third following a 3-0 victory over Littledown.
