CHILDREN at Verwood’s smallest first school were queuing up to have the first play on a new playground.
Paralympic cycling hopeful Darren Kenny and Mayor Councillor Toni Coombs were on hand to cut the green ribbon on the £7,000-worth of equipment at a opening ceremony on Tuesday.
Parents at the 10-year-old Trinity First School, in Coopers Lane, have been fundraising for three years to purchase the two traversing walls, monkey bars, log balance and role-play shop and house.
Mum Tina Booth, from fundraising group Trinity Links, said: “There were queues of pupils trying it all out and getting signatures from Darren and the Mayor.
“The school itself is made of wood, and it’s quite a rural school so fits in really well. It’s got a lovely outside space, but before they only had a small bridge to play on.”
