Reverend Canon Hugh Williams of the Priory Church, Christchurch, is returning to where his ministry began in central London, to become Preacher of the Charterhouse, a historic school as well as taking the role of deputy master.

The reverend arrived at the Priory in 1993. He said: “I’ll miss Christchurch and its people. It’s been a marvellous place to live in and for my family to grow up.

“But it’s difficult too because although people are supportive, they have also been upset.”

Mr Williams leaves on April 26.
