THE mother of a student who was stabbed to death in Bournemouth has teamed up with a rapper to set up a foundation to help prevent knife crime.

Luke Campbell, 20, was chased through the streets and killed in a back garden off St Clement’s Road, Boscombe on November 7 2008. Luke’s killers Larbi Mohamed, Saeed Alkadir and Delaine Brown were given life sentences at Winchester Crown Court.

Now Luke’s mum Hazel Hayes and rapper Neil Olsson from Derby have formed Lookup Like Luka B in honour of Luke and aim to get sponsorship from businesses and government funding.

The aim is to set up a youth centre in Luke’s home town of Burton in Staffordshire, to be run by his cousin Dave Jones, and in time a second centre in Bournemouth.

It would offer young people the chance to get involved in music and dance, training for jobs and mentoring to steer them away from knife crime, said Hazel.

Hazel said: “It is all about getting kids to do something positive, getting them into work and also a confidence builder. It’s what Luke would want.”

Rapper Neil, who goes by the stage name Red Tempa and has appeared on MTV, is recording an anti-knife crime song called More to Life, with proceeds to go to the new foundation.

A website is also being set up at lukeslaw.co.uk where people can find out more about Luke’s life, listen to his music and leave tribute messages.

Neil said: “I have experienced both sides of the law when I got into a bit of trouble.

“I just wanted to show my support.”
