A TOYOTA van crashed into the central reservation of the A31 in the New Forest and overturned near Picket Post at 3pm today.

The Air Ambulance was called out and the male driver was initially trapped in his vehicle by the gorse - but he did not suffer serious injuries.

Hampshire Police closed the Westbound carriageway a mile before Poulner Hill but reopened a lane soon afterwards.

A South Central Ambulance Service spokesman said the man was taken to Southampton Hospital with suspected chest pains.

The vehicle was removed from the scene and the road fully reopened by around 4.20pm.
