Emergency services have been dealing with a car fire on the Wessex Way underneath the Springbourne flyover.

Firefighters and police were called to the incident just before 10am.

Police temporarily closed the northbound carriageway road to allow the fire service to extinguish the blaze. Traffic was queuing back to the St Paul’s roundabout.

It is now reopened and one police officer is with the vehicle awaiting recovery.

The female driver was described as “shocked” but unhurt. She was travelling with her 17-year-old son at the time.
