A DRIVER who collided with a bus stop, forcing two elderly people to jump out of the way, was under the influence of tranquillisers and crack cocaine.

Derek Tulloch’s Fiat Punto also went into a bus and another car and was driven on the wrong side of Charminster Road in Bournemouth during a prolonged episode of dangerous driving last October.

Prosecutor Stuart Ellacott told Bournemouth Crown Court that Tulloch narrowly avoided another car and mounted the pavement in Castle Lane West.

He crossed the central white line in Charminster Road, then reversed at speed as a Yellow Bus was coming up the hill towards him.

Tulloch, 45, of Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, admitted dangerous driving, driving while unfit, possessing a class A drug, two offences of failing to stop and driving without a licence or insurance.

Defence counsel David Richards said: “This was a very bad piece of driving. The principal reason...was that he had taken 12 Valium and crack cocaine.”

Judge Roger Jarvis jailed him for a total of 52 weeks, banned him from driving for 18 months, and ordered him to take an extended test before driving again.
