Raymond Collings, 77, retired, holidaying in Bournemouth from Somerset, said: “I think that it’s a good idea, as I used to be quite a keen bike user. It might attract a lot of young people, but then I guess it depends on how active you are.

Julia Collings, 66, retired, holidaying in Bournemouth from Somerset, said: “I can’t see that there would be a problem with it. I have a bike anyway so I might not hire one, but I might be more inclined to use it. I’d want to cycle out into the country more, rather than in the town, though.”

Georgia Bocchetta, 20, art student from Penn Hill, said: “It’s good and I could use it for cycling to work for the times that I need to get there quickly. Plus it’s nice to be in the outdoors, especially in the summer.”

William Blake, 24, event manager from Liliput, said: “I think hiring out bikes is an absolutely brilliant idea, which could ultimately mean less traffic on the roads, as it would reduce the need for cars.

“The suggested price is cheap and I’d definitely hire one.”

Brenda Tompkins, 68, retired, holidaying in Bournemouth from Aylesbury, said: “I think it’s nice, although I’m not very confident on a bike, but it would be good for young people and Bournemouth town would be a nice area to cycle in.”

David Tompkins, 69, retired, holidaying in Bournemouth from Aylesbury, said: “They do need cycleways in Bournemouth, but it would mean that people could leave the car and exercise instead. I think it would be nice if there was a group of people to hire them.”
