Red Arrows grounded over ejector seat fears
ALL RAF Hawk aircraft – the model used by the Red Arrows – have been grounded due to safety fears.
The training planes were stopped from flying when engineers detected a fault with the ejector seat on one of the craft during an inspection at RAF Valley on Anglesey in Wales.
Hawks at three other stations have also been grounded and will not be permitted to fly until each plane has been inspected.
The Red Arrows are due to fly at Cowes on Friday, Swanage Carnival this weekend and at Bournemouth Air Festival, which takes place between August 19 and 22.
It is not known how long the inspection will take or how it will impact on the team's schedule.
