Teen's jaw broken by hooded gang member

A GANG of hoodies carried out a “brutal” attack on a teenage boy, leaving him in hospital with a shattered jaw.

The victim, one of three 16-year-olds who were walking through the Canford Heath area of Poole, was surrounded by a gang of up to 20, many of them with faces obscured by hooded tops and scarves.

Without provocation one of them punched the teen in the face with enough force to break his jaw in two places.

The victim has undergone an operation at Poole Hospital.

Det Con Vanessa Moyle said: “This was a cowardly, unprovoked and brutal attack on a teenage boy and I am determined that the offenders will be brought to justice.”

The attack happened around 8.30pm on Friday outside the Ad Astra First School, Sherborne Crescent.

Det Con Moyle said: “The victim was walking in the direction of Adastral Road.”

She is appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack, or saw the large group hanging around in the area, to contact her.

She added: “It may be that the members of this group didn’t realise quite how serious the boy’s injuries were at the time of the incident and I’d urge them to do the right thing and call the police.”

Call Dorset Police on 01202 22 22 22 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

The Chavs/Thugs of Puddletown Crescent are making that area a 'No-Go. The shops in the neighbourhood centre have extra security and the whole place is full of Chavs/Thugs lingering about, it is even a dispersal area so why were 20 Chavs/Thugs hanging around together?
I hope the young lad gets better soon and can identify these Chavs/Thugs/, if he is not too intimidated.
This is not the first time so where were the police??????????????

kin-hell,
nice to see you have made a judgement based on steereotypes and incorrect information. There is no dispersal notice on Canford Heath at the moment and the young people in question who committed the offence were not from this area. Perhaps some thought before you let your fingers get carried away would be good?

Ben - there is indeed a small chance that the canford heath boys didn't do anything to noone and nothing, but I think you've been listening to Karli James, who has the scab on her mouth, and anyway she was making it all up because Denise got caught with her boob out, round the back of the chipshop with Darren Eversly by that pedo what hangs around outside the Haymoor, and besides, you won't even there, so you can't know nuffin about nobody.

It dosnt matter who did it or why the victim is bad enough. What is needed is stiffer sentencing and harder punishment. No deterent is out there and ASBOs are a joke. Bring back corporal punishment.

I hope people realise by the comments on here that Canford Heath Chavs/Thugs can't spell, can't write and have the language of an infant and the mind of a cess-pit.
What a sad lot they are - National Service needs to be brought back and give these Chavs/Thugs a lesson they would never forget!!!
The problem with the police on Canford Heath is that they are not much older than the Chavs/Thugs.

I have just about had enough of these groups of youths getting away with constant intimidation and violence. I know a lad who was surrounded by a group in the upper parkstone area . He was puched in the head several times and slammed against a wall. luckily he managed to fend off a beer bottle they tried to smash over his head. This occurred last summer in day light at 830pm . There were girls in the offending group, which obviously encouraged the boys to show off their "toughness". The police just said to the victim "if you see this group in the area again contact us." well the police should have been more vigilant, and gone all out to round up the offenders. There were people walking by when this incident occurred who surely could have helped identify the cowardly gang. This is not a one off. I know of many incidents of intimidation and violence inflicted on lone pedestrians in the Albert road area of Parkstone. Often these are not reported due to fear of retalliation from the gangs.( and the knowledge that nothing will come of it anyway!) so, I believeIf these "chavs" keep getting away with their bullying behaviour they will go one step further and eventually kill someone. Look what happened to Ralph in westbourne. so please authorities clear the streets of this small minority who cause unneccesary stress and fear to the majority of law abiding residents. we should feel it is safe to walk up the Albert road to the shops dont you think!!

Write to the Chief Constable and tell him you want a year long operation with a special Police Squad to target this sort of behaviour.
I don't think it will be a problem as they have been able to resource the 'No Excuses' road campaign - oh I forgot that is self financing from the FPN's and the income from the Driver awareness Courses.

I lived in London for 38 years and moved to Bournemouth a year ago as per advise from our local Police (They said, If you want to see your kids to grow up get out of London).

In London you will get shot or stabbed just for looking at someone, In a couple of years it will be the same in Bournemouth unless something is done about it.

Forget about the police, their hands are tied, they have no power due to the government being soft.

The only solution for now is for the people of Bournemouth to stand up to them and give them a taste of their own medicine.

The only people to blame are the parents of these gangs/chavs...and the government.

The worst part is that they mainly fight over a postcode... they are silly pathetic little idiots who need a good old slap.

Fix it now before it is to late, trust me you don't want it to get like London!!

I Used To Wonder Around The Heath With My Mates, Big Groups But Never Did Anything Like That, This Area Has Got So Much Worse And We Are All Fed Up With It! I Dont Get What Is With All These Kids Walking Around Jumping People.. Fighting In Groups Doesnt Mean They Are Hard, Or Can Fight.. It Makes Them Little Girls. All Of Them Need To Grow Up. And Alot Of It Is Not Even People From Canford Heath

A short while ago I remember a guy died after being hit in the face outside the then One-Stop in Moordown, the perpetrator being one of a gang of youths hanging around outside the shop as they do.The guy was by himself and provoked noone, but that meant nothing to these teenage cowards who duly murdered him for no reason. To date noone has been brought to book for this murder I dont think, but pls correct me if Im wrong.Isnt it about time the police did what they are paid {highly} for and catch these antisocial violent misfits before theres another murder, or is that too much for them?

The best come back comment goes to Mike Pickering. True class. What gets my goat though is even IF these thugs are caught, not enough if anything will be done. These kids don't care about the consequences. They are not tough enough. Not enough is being done to prevent all this as well. Forget ASBO's, remove benefits, housing and dish out community service for repeat offenders and their parents. It starts in the home!

The problem with the last part of that comment is the Police can't stop a youth murdering someone, as you can't lock someone up for something they haven't done!
At the end of the day the parents should take some sort of responsibility, and that includes being punished if their off-spring should get into trouble, but that will probably go against their human rights, so won't happen.

madgeman - Im not advocating innocent people get done for things - definatly not - Im saying surely the police can get the truth out of half a dozen teenagers that were involved in this appalling murder with all the resources they have at their disposal.
Also Ill go £50 with mikesview to tempt someone to give info that leads to an arrest. I hope one of them is reading this comment list and responds.

You are both singing from the same hymn sheet really. I see both your points. I agree though, the problem starts in the home. With the age of criminal responsibility being 10, the parents couldn't be liable surely. There should be a collective responsibility clause introduced so that parents can be partly liable for their children's crimes.

50 years ago the streets were full of PEOPLE. Now most journeys are done by car the only people on the streets are kids. The only example they have of their parents interacting outside the home is in cars with all the associated road rage.
.
Deterrent won't stop this happening. Banging on about 'the parents' won't do anything. Dismissing these kids as 'scum' and proposing corporal punishment will only alienate them more from society which is the root of the problem. It's time we rebuilt our communities around people and not cars!
.
We grew up in easier, more civilised times. It's our environment that's breeding this problem. There but for the grace of god....

The big question is... WHY do they do it? Well here is a list of things that encourage it:

The internet, a source of graphical images/stories showing violence with no restriction.

The mobile phone being given to young children, Normally used to take pictures/videos of themselves or friends doing violent crimes so they can share with others.

Video games of pure 100% violence/drugs and promoting violence/drugs like it is a good thing to do.

Rap music promoting the use of selling drugs and violence.

Lack of kids youth clubs which leaves kids to roam the streets in boredom.

Shops/Clubs/Pubs selling alcohol to kids all for profit to themselves, not thinking about the damage it is doing.

Outside the United Kingdom influence, Example, America, Famous for it's gangs and drugs wars which is shown via movies/music and t.v programs in the United Kingdom.

Parents letting their children stay out until late at night.

Parents letting their children dress like a gang member.

As you can see, most of the above is the parents fault or greed from a business.

The next big question is... HOW can this be fixed:

Well it has to start from the top, which is our government, over the years they have given the younger generation more rights than the police/parents/schoo
l teachers.
When I lived in London the police came around my house because my child was being hunted by gang members who even had their own website promoting guns and gangs and my sons face was on their website saying “Your Dead”, the police told me “Two hours ago I arrested a kid for violence, I have arrested this kid over 18 times and he will be let off again by the courts, that's just how things are in this day and age, we cant arrest the people who want to hurt your son as they have not done anything yet, he also said “I know it is absurd but that is how it is” followed by “The only way to save your son is to move as far away from London as possible”.... so we moved.

The government has to fix this now before it gets worse, when I lived in London watching gangs was like watching your hair grow, it gets out of control before you even know it and that is what is happening in Bournemouth, it's the same scenario as in London in the early years, they are drinking and starting violence for now reason, this will soon become a Gang/Drug war quicker than you think, you just won't notice it, I.e. like watching your hair grow and before you know it “BOOM you are living in HELL”

I don't care what people say about this comment but I am going to say it “It IS the parents fault” not just the government, Parents have a duty and that is control their children and bring them up as best as they can, not just let them roam around in life like wild animals.

I could go on forever but typing this just gets me more angry.

Just go around the Neighbourhood Centre on Canford Heath and see the number of young Chavs/Thugs pushing their babies round the shops. The parents barely out of nappies themselves covered in chains and love bites and both held up by the pushchair or shopping trolley. It’s about time we stopped DWP on these Chavs/Thugs and made one of the couple work or stop their benefits. If you look into their trolleys in Asda they are full of beer, crisps and junk foods, heaven help it when their kids grow up. I suppose another lot of Chav/Thugs.
This country is too soft with its PC!!!!
