Six led to safety after flat fire

SIX people were led to safety after a fire in the communal stairwell of a block of flats.

The incident on Windham Road, Springbourne, Bournemouth, happened at around 10.45am on Thursday.

Firefighters from Redhill Park, Springbourne and Christchurch found the fire and extinguished it using a hose reel jet and breathing apparatus.

Ambulance and police were also at the scene.

There was substantial damage to a pushchair and to a small area of carpet, but it's not believed that there were any injuries.
