A woman has died at a west Dorset beach.

Emergency services including police, fire, coastguards and an air ambulance, rushed to a medical emergency on Charmouth Beach at around 9am this morning.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the death is not being treated as suspicious and the woman's next of kin have been informed.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "Dorset Police received a report at 9.13am of a woman in need of medical assistance in Lower Sea Lane in Charmouth.

"Emergency services attended but very sadly the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and the woman’s next of kin have been informed.

"Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones at this very difficult time.
