London Broncos head coach Andrew Henderson described his side’s performance in the 40-16 defeat at Whitehaven in the Super 8s on Saturday as very poor and one to forget.

After thrashing Doncaster 52-12 in their Championship Shield opener, Henderson was less-than-impressed by what he witnessed in Cumbria.

He said: “The second half was one to forget really. We coughed up possession, disrespect with possession and penalties, penalties, penalties. We ended up with a man in the sin-bin because we gave that many penalties away”.

Henderson continued: “It was a very poor and ordinary performance and certainly one to forget. I’m not going to hide away from it, there will be changes next week.

“I’m going to be bringing in four academy players to train with us this week and if they prove themselves at training they will play next week against Hunslet, there’s no doubt about it.

“I’m hoping to get some enthusiasm and attitude from them as we had a real lack of attitude certainly in the second half. We were still winning at half time and in a position to win the game, we could have won the game even as poor as we were."

The Broncos failed to capitalise on their early success, having originally led 16-0 thanks to tries from Ben Hellewell, Elliot Minchella and William Barthau.

But after Haven went over twice before the break the home side rallied in the second period and put up 28 unanswered points.
