FIRE fighters were called to extinguish a car fire in Poole this morning.
A call was made to emergency services just after 9am by a member of the public, which led to one crew from Poole Fire Station attending the scene.
They quickly worked to put out the fire on Tollerford Road, in Canford Heath, using two hose reel jets.
John Thornley, 40, who lives opposite where the incident happened, said: “I was just getting ready for work when I was straightening my tie in the mirror and saw smoke in the background of the reflection. My initial thought was that the house was on fire.
“I saw the man get out of his car and walk a small distance away, obviously to make the 999 call and I could see a large amount of smoke coming from the bonnet of the car, then flames on the section close to the wheel arch.
John said that the fire fighters arrived within three or four minutes to extinguish the fire and have now left the scene.
