A school in Hornsey is celebrating its best set of exam results ever after 100 per cent of its students passed their A Levels.

Highgate Wood School, in Hornsey, were in high spirits as 83 per cent of their sixth formers received A* to C grades - up from 79 per cent last year.

The number of people who has achieved grades between A* and B is also up at 55 per cent compared with 45 per cent in 2012.

Joe Casson, from Crouch End, became highest achiever ever after he got three A*s in history, English literature and politics.

He is now going on to study history and politics at the University of Manchester.

Aurora Roelofs, from Wood Green, is also one of the school’s high-flyers as she earned the grades to secure a place at the University of Cambridge.

She will go on to study Political and Social Sciences after achieved two A*s in history and philosophy and two As in biology and English language.

The head of sixth form at the school, Nick Charlesworth, spoke of his delight that students had done so well.

He said: “Students and staff worked incredibly hard for these results and it is nice to see such hard work rewarded.

“The students who won places this year are a real inspiration to the whole school.

"They will be invited back to Highgate Wood to share their experiences and motivate younger students to follow in their footsteps.”

The school’s headteacher Patrick Cozier, said the wide range of degree options students have taken on will make for challenging and exciting futures.

He said: “We are certainly proud of them all and wish them well.

“But we are also excited about the wide range of degree options students have taken on and we look forward to their challenging and exciting futures.”

Mr Cozier added that those who did not get the grades they wanted should go see the school’s dedicated clearing advisor.
