UPDATED: Car hits lamp post following police pursuit

A ‘HIGH speed’ police pursuit took place through the streets of Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

Witnesses described the scene along Christchurch Road in Boscombe like ‘something out of a film’ after a red Honda Civic rushed past a queue of traffic swiftly followed by several police vehicles.

The Honda ended up crashing into a lamppost in Adeline Road. No one was injured.

Stuart Trump from Lytchett Matravers was in his vehicle in a queue of traffic when he saw the cars zoom past them.

“I suddenly saw all these flashing lights and then in a matter of seconds a red Honda came up the outside.

“He must have been doing 70-80mph and right behind him were two police cars, a BMW estate and a 4x4 followed by a white van.

“As we came back round past the Sovereign Centre, we saw the flashing blue lights and the car in a lamppost.”

A police spokesperson would only confirm the incident had taken place around 2.20pm. No other information was available.

Where are the tall police when you need them.?

I thought there were minimum height restrictions for Police Officers; maybe they now pay by the foot (or metre) and are trying to save money.

One would have thought that by now, Echo staff would have realized that readers will pick up apparent errors in articles published on this website and then they would take more care and check them before entering them on to the website page on their computer and subsequently uploading to the live site.
The downside is that the articles would need to be both spell-checked and proof-read (neither of which is difficult, even octogenarians can do these processes) but it might take a little time, especially as staff might be very, very busy on a Saturday afternoon getting Monday's paper ready.

I suppose the police chase ended the moment the car crashed.

Another Saturday night in Boscombe.

The lampost was charged with breaking and entering a vehicle.Couldnt have been the drivers fault in Boscombe too high on alcohol and drugs to know what he/she was doing.

They may be short police but I have heard their arms are long.

Did Jeremy Clarksons conscripts get the taste for driving and escape into Boscombe .

It is well known by now that the Echo publication matches the average Bournemouth residents requirements almost comic strip and attracts mundane comments such as mine and yours that includes the usual littering of non punctuation and incorrect spelling and grandma but what else would you be doing on a Saturday evening but moaning

Well theres nowt that I want to watch on the idiots lantern so a book is the only alternative to checking to see if I have won enough to live a life of ease away from it all and amusing myself with the various ways that the OHEC staff can mangle English (:o))

Why did some muppet choose a Saturday afternoon to have a car chase? (when I say 'muppet' I mean the Honda driver). Perhaps one of the busiest days of the week? Don't worry about anyone else's safety, you just go about your crazy business! I like how there's no info on the guy in the Honda. Poor lamp post.
