AROUND 2,800 customers endured a power cut in Southbourne this morning.

It is thought the problem was due to a high voltage network fault and electricity went out at around 4.40am.

Engineers from SSE managed to get 1,800 homes back on within 12minutes, a spokesperson said, followed by a further 500 households at 6am by re-routing supplies to other networks.

Around 42 customers in the Grange Road area were the last to have their power restored, with the problem fully rectified by 8.50am.

The company say they will be investigating the fault.
