A DOCUMENTARY about former Boyzone star Shane Lynch which was filmed in part at a Wimborne School is set to air tonight.

The programme ‘Shane Lynch: Dyslexia My Secret Past’ follows the Irish boy band singer, who left school at the age of 14 unable to read or write, learning more about his condition.

The musician meets some of the young people who are going through the same problems he had as a teenager.

The show, which airs on Channel 5 at 10pm tonight, was filmed in part at Lockyers Middle School in May – when Shane formerly opened a new library.

Lynch, pictured right, spent time with children with the same condition, and heaped praise on the school’s special programme for pupils with learning disabilities.

“They have been absolutely amazing, from the students to the teachers – allowing me to come in and speak to the kids on an emotional level.

“To come in and open their library is the least I could do,” he told the Daily Echo at the time.

The new library, formerly the ICT suite, was created during a wider £250,000 revamp in 2011 to make rooms for a new kitchen to provide hot school meals.
