Eighty-one arrested on New Year's Eve in Dorset

THERE were 81 arrests across Dorset on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day with the majority of people ending up on the wrong end of the law in Bournemouth and Poole.

Police figures show that there were nine arrests in Bournemouth on New Year's Eve and 25 on New Year's Day while 11 people were detained in Poole on New Year's Eve and 12 arrests were made in the town on the first day of 2013.

There were two arrests in Lytchett Minster and five people were detained in Christchurch on New Year's Day with only one arrest on New Year's Eve. There were nine arrests in Weymouth on New Year's Day and two people were detained following disturbances in the resort on New Year's Eve.

There were no arrests in Sherborne and Wareham over the New Year period.
