Four years after their debut – and three years since they finished recording it – Engineers finally get a release for their stunning second album.

The audio alchemists have concocted a hearty soup of mechanical music, layering sounds and building sky-high sonic clouds that amuse and amaze in equal proportion. Lead single Clean Coloured Wire is a blinding noise made of crystal clear melody and super dense rhythms decorated by an angel’s chorus and a scallywag’s vocal; while The Fear Has Gone builds oh-so-slowly before erupting into violent life two minutes in.

We can only dream, but imagine if Phil Spector had holstered his pistola and recorded My Bloody Valentine instead – it’s the only thing that would have come even close to matching Engineers for size or shape.
