SUPPORTERS' trust chairman Derek Timoney has called on Cherries fans to remain patient as the club's takeover saga continues to drag.

Administrator Gerald Krasner said the process may take "most of May" when he announced Jeff Mostyn as the preferred bidder at the end of last month.

And although Krasner was expected to give fans an update earlier this week, his plans have been delayed as a series of meetings have had to be rescheduled.

Timoney, who has been in regular dialogue with Cherries vice-chairman Steve Sly, told the Daily Echo: "We've been assured by Steve that things are progressing and everything should be sorted out shortly.

"We understand that negotiations with interested parties are continuing and we've been informed that, when these negotiations have been completed, discussions with the supporters' trust will follow as a matter of course.

"We understand supporters' frustrations but, given the fact that everything we are being told now is positive, we just ask for patience. We understand the interested parties are following all the correct procedures and these things do take time."

Meanwhile, Mostyn's bid to take Cherries out of administration is nothing to do with former boss Harry Redknapp, the Daily Echo understands.

Portsmouth boss Redknapp was reported in yesterday's Daily Express to be on the verge of bailing out his former club, possibly with the involvement of sons Jamie and Mark.

However, although Mostyn is yet to reveal the identity of his potential fellow investors, neither Redknapp nor any of his family is believed to be among them.

Although the Daily Echo spoke to Mostyn at length yesterday, he politely declined to issue any on-the-record statement while negotiations were ongoing.

When asked whether he knew if any of the Redknapp family were involved with Mostyn's bid, Krasner said: "I have an idea who is involved with Jeff, but only Jeff will answer that question. I'm not dealing with Mr Redknapp in any capacity whatsoever. I'm dealing with Mr Mostyn on behalf of his consortium."
