I AM very unhappy about streetlights [in Christchurch] turning off at 1am every night.

I feel this to be very unsafe, and where is the health and safety here?

With everything else, health and safety goes berserk. But suddenly this seems not to matter.

I feel that someone can easily fall or trip with pavements everywhere, or other obstacles you cannot see in darkness, not to mention someone robbing someone.

I am a taxi driver in Christchurch and feel very vulnerable. Nobody seems to care about anyone anymore, only themselves and suddenly, having to save 5.5 hours electric, it is absolute madness.

I cannot understand that nobody else has complained about it. It is sometimes difficult to find addresses in daylight, let alone at night. What about the emergency services?

What if it is a real emergency of life or death?I dread to think with the wintertime fast approaching what can happen when we haves now and ice. People will slip and fall and break bones.

It needs to change and immediately. I feel this is a very serious matter and people must complain.
