I WAS intrigued to read the article about the book featuring the air raid that killed 131 [in Bournemouth in 1943] and I congratulate Angela Beleznay on her assiduity in her project.
Let us not forget just how brutal the Nazi regime was, killing eight to ten million persons and imprisoning many more.
Hitler and Himmler, his partner in blood, cared little for their own soldiers or their own people. Hitler even denied a state funeral for his fanatical follower Judge Roland Freisler, who presided over the trials of political opponents of the regime.
And Himmler even had executed his loyal lieutenant Dr Rascher, who carried out horrific experiments on live prisoners when they no longer served his purpose.
Well done, Angela Beleznay.
