LIKE Bob Danks (Letters April 20) I too think there is a lot of scaremongering going on about the proposed wind farm off the Dorset coast.

When the proposal was first mooted, a few years ago, I was a bit concerned but after giving it some thought then realised 10 miles is an awful long way off, and anyone seeing that far would not need to go to any optician.

A friend of mine went to France on the Barfleur. He got a member of the crew to tell him when they were 10 miles off Bournemouth. I in turn went to the cafe car park at Branksome with binoculars and waited. He phoned me but it was quite some time before we were able to spot the ship, a mere dot on the horizon. He informed me they were about three miles off.

My opinion, for what its worth, is that the people who made the proposition in the first place should have said, “Off Dorset” and not “Poole Bay”, then perhaps we would not have the hoo-haa we have today.

I too have reservations on whether it is a worthwhile project, only time will tell.
