IF I may point out that the article ‘Golfer Alan giving it some right stick’ (February 2, 2012) regarding Alan Sims’s successful fight against cancer has been misconstrued by some people as the reporting did not give the full picture about the funds he has raised and the amount the golf club raised as a whole. The main point of the story was regarding Alan’s wish to raise the profile of Prostate Cancer and encourage people to be treated early as the disease is not a death sentence and can be overcome. The important issue was not who raised what, where and how but that Alan’s story might encourage others not to delay going to the doctor, being diagnosed and treated quickly. A positive attitude and good sense of humour help in the recovery and Alan demonstrated this most nobly in my opinion. It is a shame some people think the other way to this issue.
