PROFESSOR Price (Letters, January 3) has rightly highlighted radiotherapy as an effective and cost efficient treatment for cancer, and the uneven availability of advanced treatment techniques such as IGRT and IMRT (Image Guided Radiotherapy and Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy) at a national level.
Poole Hospital is the sole provider of radiotherapy in Dorset: we are currently working hard to implement these new technologies within the next couple of years, and make them available for all those patients who would benefit from them as recommended by the National Radiotherapy Advisory Group (NRAG).
GRAHAM FREESTONE Deputy Head of Radiotherapy Physics, Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
