POOLE householders are going to have trouble next year if we have a 60mph storm chaos the same we had on January 3, when the council bring in the new ‘no garden refuse’ pick-up in the winter months.
What will we do with the remnants of our garden, boughs/branches off trees and shrubs, and debris all round the garden?
Even if we have paid for a green bin, it will be April before they take it away, and a great many people have not got cars to take it to the refuse depot, and why should they, that’s what we pay rates for.
I have asked the National Department for Local Government and the Local government Secretary Eric Pickles what can our local council class as garden refuse when they bring in this new regulation.
Will it include fences, sheds and greenhouses, (especially my three panes of glass shattered)?
What size branch, (two, three or four inch), can I put in as garden waste?
Are they allowed within the existing government council rate agreements, to refuse to remove all garden refuse for four months of the year?
Surely, after storm damage, it is a council’s civic duty to get our town back to normal as soon as possible; we are supposed to be living in a civilised society.
