MARIE Curie Cancer Care provides nursing care at home for people with cancer and other terminal illnesses across Dorset. Last year we cared for more than 500 local people at the end of their lives.

The service is completely free of charge to patients and their families; but to fund this essential service we need to raise £500,000 in the county every year.

We are currently planning our Great Daffodil Appeal and are looking for volunteers to spare an hour or two to collect at their local supermarket and help us raise funds and awareness by encouraging local people to wear their daffodil pin.

We have collections booked at Tesco, Riverside Avenue in Bournemouth on Friday, February 24 and Saturday, February 25 and at Castlepoint Shopping Centre and Bournemouth Town Centre on Saturday, March 31.

We also have collections booked in every other town and most supermarkets across the county; including Christchurch, Poole, Verwood, Ferndown, Wareham and Swanage during February and March.

If any readers would like to help us, please contact us on 01935 423987 or by email at amy.llewellyn@ mariecurie.org.uk and we will put you in touch with your local coordinator.

An hour collecting raises on average £42 for the charity and all funds are used locally.
