I DO so agree with the suggestions Mr Vincent, of Lytchett Matravers, has put forward in his letter of January 4, particularly demolishing the Imax and replacing it with an Olympic swimming pool.
I had a moment of deja vu when I read that, as I have, on my mantelpiece, a beautiful shield presented to my brother, dated March 23, 1937, on the opening of the Pier Approach Baths, where the Imax now stands.
My brother was a very good swimmer and so took part in the celebrations.
My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed these baths as they were well equipped with excellent diving boards and good changing facilities. I have an idea that there may have been treatment rooms and so on but I'm not sure.
