I AM not at all surprised to read in the Echo (January 7) that again we have problems with Christmas period bin collections in Poole.
As said in the item, Poole council does not deliver a bin collection during Christmas week.
That then will lead into a minimum of two weeks between black bin collections and four weeks between blue bin collections.
This is, as many have commented online, a considerable failing of the management of this service.
The very busiest time of the year for waste and packaging from homes and we get no collections.
The problem then aggravated by whatever the weather throws up.
Last year heavy snow and ice and no collections in many areas for a month, this year bins getting blown over as residents leave them out in the “hope” they will be collected.
All credit to a hard working department and all the very hard working crews delivering this important service through the year.
But surely for leave entitlement Christmas week is not the week to stop services for such a long period.
Or, if they do have to stop and there is no alternative, surely the very minimum service is advisory stickers on bins along with extra refuse bags.
