IN CONSIDERATION of the present economic climate, might I suggest to all cash-strapped families that they forego wasting any money at all on fireworks this year.

Hopefully then, most kiddies will receive a present or two at Christmas, and perhaps people will begin to realise that there is a life without “bang, crash, whizz and wallop” every November.

Everyone will be a winner, parents, kids, animals and me, being able to save money on earplugs and enjoy a little peace for once.

Oh, and while we are on the subject of being economically sensible, let’s trash Halloween as well.
