INTERESTING to hear that Ofsted has launched a Parent View website to allow parents and carers to have some input into the school their children are attending.

Money well spent, one would think. Anything to help the future generations education must be worth it.

But after reading an Ofsted report of a local primary school – which was a very good report that showed that the teaching and support staff had put extra effort in – it also showed that out of out of the 265 questionnaires that were made available to parents and carers, 53 returned them.

A fifth, twenty per cent, any way you say it is a pretty poor return, so what does that indicate?

Lack of interest from those parents? Couldn’t be bothered? Teachers job not theirs?

I don’t know. I’m just asking the questions. Perhaps any costs involved in setting up that website should have been spent elsewhere in education.
