I wonder if anyone who saw the Trevor Osborne Group’s exhibition of the proposed Pavilion development, or your photo of it in Friday’s Echo, thought the green, swirly concoction beside the Pavilion looked very much like a wedding cake!
If so, do they also think it does nothing to enhance the Pavilion and that, artistically, it bears no relation to that construction or anything in the vicinity.
Why does Mr Osborne assume we need more shops and restaurants at a time when there are shops closing? He also incorrectly assumes we need more restaurants when we have enough already to satisfy every possible taste.
As the raison d’etre is simply to refurbish the Pavilion, which is the real gem and the centrepiece of the whole story, why not look for funding and just do that?
