I AM utterly opposed to the Commercial Port Extension and Marina proposal from Poole Harbour Commissioners and seriously suggest that they consider the following alternatives: 1. Ensure the best possible economic use is made of every square metre of their existing land on the former Ballast Quay and previously reclaimed land from Poole Harbour.

2. Extend the existing Dolphin Marina to the edge of the main channel, with a cruiser base at the southern edge and a car park for boat owners. This would keep the quay free and a road and pedestrian walkway right out to the end for locals, disabled and tourists to enjoy the buzzing marine activities.

3. Rather than build new marine-based businesses on more reclaimed Poole Harbour land, replace the eyesore of the existing, dilapidated premises between the old and new bridges off West Quay Road with really modern looking, high-efficiency, low energy, business offices and workshops, including a state-of-the-art lift out facility, a new Poole Rowing Club and Sea Cadet Hall.

4. If you drop the Hamworthy proposal, there will not be the need for Poole Yacht Club members to vote on having to negotiate with PHC to exchange their existing premises and marina for an even bigger and better clubhouse and marina to avoid being hemmed in. Furthermore this will also avoid more financial pressures on PHC who would have to borrow some extra £5m to include this free of charge enhancement in their further proposed monstrous intrusion into the harbour.

I therefore respectfully ask PHC to think again and drop this proposal.
