I AM appalled by the actions of councillors in the ‘parking cones farce’.

I attend the football at Dean Court and will always park around Leeson Road. As I pay my road tax I have every right to park on the highway in a legal manner.

Do these councillors not realise that in order to distribute cones on the highway you need permission from the council plus a temporary TRO (Traffic Regulation Order) to be able to enforce them?

As it is, there already is a restriction for one hour AM and one hour PM Monday to Friday to stop workers parking in that area.

So if you need to bring restrictions in then extend this to Saturday as well, but I understand the local residents do not want this due to their own friends and relatives parking outside.

If the general pubic were to start putting cones out, A-boards, or any other type of sign without permission you would soon get a visit from the council’s own team of environmental green brigade and issue you with a fixed penalty notice.

Kings Park has been home to Dean Court for years and the residents knew it was there and the parking problems that come with it when they moved into the area.

After all it is only for approx two hours, every other week for nine months of the year.

I live in a small cul-de-sac with horrendous on street parking problems, as do many other residents of Bournemouth. Imagine the chaos if everyone decided to put cones outside their house because they don’t want anyone else parking there.

So come on councillors do what you are elected for and not take the Law into your own hands.
