I READ with interest and sadness your feature ‘Thousands spent on council complaints’ (March 14).

One cannot but be dismayed at the conduct and ruthlessness which the feature portrays of councillors seeking to bring complaints against each other in what it appears to be simply seeking to score political points and discredit one another. The electorate surely deserves better than this from those to whom they entrust to such positions of responsibility.

It is a very sad indictment that the investigation into Cllr John Beesley has taken some 15 months and it is wrong and irresponsible that the standards committee took so long to conclude its investigations. I indeed I wrote last summer to say so. It is appalling that so many complaints which your article describes arise from councillors disagreeing with each other.
