I REFER to the proposed PHC Commercial Port Extension & Marina Project.
We travel from the East Coast of Yorkshire to Hamworthy for the sheer delight of a holiday each summer.
This has the benefit of the proximity of a green open space (Hamworthy Park), alongside a magnificent stretch of water with a sandy shore and beautiful views of Brownsea Island and the Purbeck Hills, which really adds to the attractiveness of the place.
Hamworthy and Poole should be ensuring that we continue to come and spend our money in the area, rather than going abroad or elsewhere in the UK.
The Port Extension & Marina proposal would ‘extinguish’ the greater part of our delight in the area and we would most certainly transfer our holiday venue if this ill-conceived development were to go ahead.
I suspect this is for the benefit of a few who have little regard for the well-being and pleasure of the majority.
I therefore urge all concerned to really think again about the wisdom of this massive commercial venture in a unique, traditional tourist area.
