A most sincere thank you to the person who handed in my handbag which was left in a Tesco trolley at Fleets Bridge on Tuesday, March 1. Your wonderful gesture has brought the thought of lovely spring days ahead appear so much closer to a very elderly lady. Quite an achievement on one of our coldest winter days.
Your action too has restored my faith in human nature. Not long ago, I was very hurt at having been conned when sympathising by supportive action over a very plausible story. Needless to say I have learnt from that exercise.
I regret being unable to reward my unknown Good Samaritan personally, but I propose to go across to Christchurch and donate to their Christchurch, New Zealand Earthquake Fund. I like to think that you would perhaps approve.
GRATEFUL JOYCE, address supplied
